About Lace

October 10, 2011

While most of us think of lace as a dressy item, accessory, or embellishment it has become a huge fall trend for day or evening.    And the thing about lace is, it’s not like wide leg pants or bows on  blouses this year.  It’s an element of the design, not THE design.  Meaning, while it’s popularity will wax and wane, it will remain a classic.   I’ve picked some beautiful dresses but also a  couple more casual items for those that don’t want to go full on.  This is definitely a way to be “in style” with adding just a bit or you can do a lot.

In my humble opinion, Kate Middleton, now Princess Kate, will probably go down in history as a style icon along the lines of  her mother-in-law, Lady Diana, Grace Kelly, etc.  On a tour to Canada she walked off the plane in this gorgeous Erdem blue lace dress.  Look no further for somebody to observe for consistent classic style.

Here is another gorgeous option for  a lace dress.  For those that like more coverage, take note of the high neck and full length sleeve.   The lace and strap shoe add a real punch to this lbd.   Loverly!

This beautiful blouse is very pretty with the blue skirt but I can really see it with a beautiful pair of winter white pants or maybe even a pair of dark wash trouser jean with a fantastic pop of color shoe.  And of course the black lace will pair fantastic with any metallic.

Jason Wu black lace top

And of course, the designer price tag doesn’t have to come with a nice lace piece.  This little sheer jacket has sweet ruffle shoulders.  Slip it on over a black silky tank or for a fall feeling, try something brown or bronze.  A fabulous dress up anything item.  Check-out the cute ruffle along he bottom.   Comes in black also and is just as great.

If you are looking for an easy and very fall trend to incorporate this October lace is your look to try.  You don’t have to spend the big bucks or invest in an entire look.  A blouse, a skirt, a shoe (cuuute), or even lace trim on a particular piece will bring you quickly up to date.

I’d really love to see any outfits you come up with….

Now for a bit of housekeeping…..to put it bluntly, this finishing up this cancer process is for the birds!  So completely tired of it all….ugh.  Anyway, I told you I wouldn’t be bombarding you with posts and no worries, they have been few and far between!  I hope to pick up the posting soon.  But, on a similar thread, as always any sharing and/or signing up is extremely appreciated….this year I hope to really increase my readership and therefore business.

Thanks for reading and I AM working so give me a call if needed!

Can There Really Be Just One Piece For Fall?

September 20, 2011

I don’t love to write about this because it’s so subjective.  I mean really, who can say what piece you or I or Suzie Q needs?  But, with the change of each season there will be a bazillion articles on what you have to buy for that season.  So, I write.

But, this time I’m cheating and commenting on a contest Lucky Magazine did on what the one item was we needed to buy.  They began with  16  different pieces and as the votes came in whittled it down to just one.   I like it.   In fact, I have one.  My problem is I bought it right after my first breast cancer surgery, just 3 days later.  Looking back I was probably still under the anesthesia influence plus I was at the beach and who needs leather down there…what was I thinking??!!  As I got sicker, I didn’t go out much therefore didn’t have the opportunity to wear it.  Who even knows if  I’ll like it when I pull it out in a couple of weeks?   Oh well.

So, below is the contest diagram….I’ll only comment on 2 or 3.

I don’t believe the bag choices were great.  A good leather tote if you’re a working gal that is carrying “stuff” is practical.  A printed day bag, not so much.

And the poncho/army coat choice was a bit of a head scratcher.  But, the poncho and sweaters are very chic for fall.

And to me, the bootie wins by a landslide.  Unless you consistently have evening events to attend.  I mean, they said” sky high”.  What does that mean to you?  It means nighttime to me!

And then there’s the winner.  I must say, it is a piece you will treasure.  If you buy for fit and quality ( I have no idea if I did!  I need to get that thing out!) it is an item you will go to time and again.  Over the lbd or with your jeans, either works.  A motorcycle style leather ( buy leather) jacket will up your cool factor tremendously.

Here’s the link to the whole article.  What do you think, is it a winner?

As always, call me if you need any help choosing your fall buys!

Transition Time in Tennessee

September 10, 2011

That title sounds like something an SEC sportscaster would say!  Is there such a thing or are they just sportscasters?  Anyhoo,  it is transition time clothing wise here in the South.  Labor Day has traditionally been the official marker to put away the summer clothes and in my mind it still is to a certain extent.  Color, fabric choice, and weight are choices to consider now that we are well into September.

For example, your light blue linen skirt needs to go to the winter side of the closet.  But, if it’s a navy blue linen skirt, I think you can get by with that for a couple more weeks.   As long as it has some heft to it, not super light weight.

Seems like shoes give so many of us fits this time of year.  Keep these tips in mind.  Sandals that have textured fibers like jute or corkscrew, espadrilles with summer stripes and such also need to be put away.  Leather sandals with a wooden heel are great for this time of year.  If you put them away, bring out your closed toe flats.  Get yourself a great pedicure and your flat thong sandals in black, brown, and metallics can go a bit longer too.  If you like suede, a cute pair of wedge heel suede peep toes would  work  wonders for your wardrobe.  Love those!

Summer neons need to go, in fact, neons all together are just really not good.  Sorry.

Keep wearing your white tees and jeans, just pair with great fall shades.  Try an army green twill jacket and black tee with the white jeans and a pair of suede sandals like the ones mentioned above or a beautiful mulberry cardigan with your white tee and khaki capris.  Put on some tortoiseshell sunglasses and animal print flats and you will look mah-velous!

Below are some fall fashion Do’s and Don’t from Glamour magazine.

This one is a great fall palette….a definite DO!  Note the heavy brown belt that in the spring may be too much.

transition to fall look

Look at that lovely dark yellow print skirt, then the black trench and heavy black choker.  I’d love to see her shoes….and she does these colors without looking like a bumblebee!

Pretty Fall Hues

Okay a don’t….if you don’t have a winter jacket or coat, get one.  This just doesn’t work, especially as it looks like she’s going to work!

One more “Do”……how classic is this…black dress, black layered sweater, black flats and bare legs.  A little short for me but still….so cute for fall weather.

Layering with Bare Legs

What you want to remember is that if it’s still 80 degrees you are going to look silly in bulky winter clothing…..but on the opposite spectrum, September does call for a nod to fall.  That being done with darker colors and heavier fabrics.  Here are some more tips from glamour magazine for you to consider.   I’d love to hear your thoughts or questions!

Flirty and Femine Blouses

September 2, 2011

For the feminine side in most of us…..this is our fall.  The spotlight is on blouses.   They are meant to be tucked into menswear style trousers, worn outside of jeans, paired with long skirts, belted outside of pencil skirts, and the options go on and on.  It’s time to swim out of the sea of crisp white or pin stripe shirts and embrace the ladylike blouses of this autumn.  If you are looking for a trend that can also be a classic this is the piece.   Check out the ones below,  I love them all!

Ok, talk about making a bold, yet very feminine statement!   I think this is the most interesting one I downloaded (but I saw tons more!).  Picture this tucked into a black pencil skirt or outside of dark skinny jeans with black booties.  I’m so into stripes right now and this certainly fits the bill!

black/white stripe sheer blouse/ Equipment Sophie @ net-a-porter.com / $190

What a fabulous fall blouse this one is.    Along with ladylike blouses being in style for this season, if it has a bow…..that hits the jackpot.  A tie-neck blouse is  on soooo many Top Ten Must Haves for Fall lists.  This one would be lovely with a pair of camel wide leg pants.   That is just one way to wear this.  Let me know how you’d wear it!

green neck tie blouse/ Anthropologie.com/ $118

I just love this sweet cherry red top.  It’s a great color that most can wear.  I know most of you would pair this precious blouse with black.  Resist that urge!  I see it with beautiful grey pants.  Throw a navy boyfriend cardigan over it or if you’re feeling brave try a purpley grape cardigan.  Experiment!!

cherry short sleeve blouse/ Topshop/ $74

I think this is my favorite.  No, not because it’s the cheapest one I’m showing, although that helps.  I’m just a sucker for outfits shown using jeans.  And this is definitely one I’d wear with my old 9 West cognac riding boots if they were  skinny jeans or my brown cowboy boots if bootcut.   But, if you aren’t me, and most of your aren’t, this blouse would also look great worn outside a pair of skinny, cropped khakis and some nude pumps.  And just as a p.s., I tried to find it on the Express website but couldn’t so I don’t know if it’s no longer available or not available yet, that’s how much I love it!

navy floral blouse/ Express via fabsugar.com/ $50

Oh. My. The loveliness of this blouse is beyond words.  But, this is a blog so I’ll try to find some, hehe!  Where shall I start?  The perfect fall color that will look fabulous with grey, navy, black (without look Halloweeny), a beautiful brown houndstooth,  ooooh, and winter white would look so pretty too!   Ok, now, check out that wide placket.  See those sweet little pearl buttons and little loops opposite.  And the bow is  just perfect.  Pair with anything.  Very, very nice.

sleeveless necktie blouse/ Marc by Marc Jacobs/ $364/ polyvore.com

Chiffony, silky, sheer, layered, sleeveless to long sleeves with cuffs, buttons or pull over V’s, outside or tucked, feminine or menswear inspired.   Which ever it is.  A beautiful blouse that you love and that works on your body and into your wardrobe is a “must have” (and I don’t like “must haves”) for the 2011 fall season.  There are just so many ways to wear them now.  And from Forever 21 to Net-a-Porter, you should be able to find one in your price range.  They are lush and gorgeous and  hanging in retailers now….waiting for you.

Happy Shopping….call me!

Marti and Liz-a-palooza

August 15, 2011

I do love a deal.  I must confess,  I am a total sale scrounger.  You put me in a room with dramatically reduced clothing or shoes, and well, you might as well get some reading material ’cause I’ll be a while.  My last dress was purchased at a consignment store.  Having worked in retail, been a buyer,  plus being able to sew, the mark-up on stuff  just really gets to me.  Cheap fabrics, no lining, asking the same for vinyl and leather…..arrrrggghhh!  Anyway, such thoughts were the inspiration for this post.  I’m sure the sales ladies in Marti and Liz wondered what the woman in the  shorts and keds (yep, didn’t even look like a stylist for sure!) was doing taking pictures of their shoes.  I probably should have told them, oh well.

If you are not familiar with Marti and Liz, it is a chain of stores that sell factory rejects, overstock, runway, and returned shoes.  There is one in Cool Springs and Murfreesboro and maybe somewhere else close to Nashville.  Some shoes are obviously brand new, some have obviously been worn.  By who I’m not really sure.  I steer clear of pairs that have obvious wear and tear.  But, it is safe to say I can generally find a purchase there, it might not have been what I was looking for but I sure do need them anyway!  The fabulous part is, they carry really great name shoes…..you just may not see them all the time or they may not have your size.  Frye, Donald Pliner, Cole Haan,  Coach, Anne Klein, Kate Spade, Nine West, and more.

So, below are what I found on a late Wednesday afternoon.  I walked out not buying (remember, I just bought a dress!), but thinking about those cute clogs!!

One minor disclaimer, sizes are not “for sure”.  I was terribly remiss in not writing down all the info.  I do know, unless otherwise stated, all shoes were in the $24.99 to $27.99 range.

The first pair are just fabulous.   The heel is a great height, this color will work so cute now and definitely go into fall, you know when you want a sandal but feel it’s too late in the season?  This is your shoe and please tell me what this color WON’T go with!!  I believe these were a size 8 and the brand Moda.

beige suede heel

Calling any size 6 1/2 that needs a fantastic black pump.   So very versatile.  The metallic shine kicks it up 2 or 3 notches, don’t ya think?

black metallic Calvin Klein pump

Take any khaki, black, navy, denim, and possibly subtly patterned pant (probably not brown), a cute top, and pair with these shoes and I’ll show you one great outfit.  Just love the little gold bow and shiny beads on the toe.  I know  Sam Libby shoes and Sam Edelman shoes so this brand must be a company step child.  Yes, the people in the picture were watching me strangely.

snakeskin flat with gold toe

Oh. My. Gosh.  If you are a size 6-6 1/2  and don’t want these shoes I don’t know what’s wrong with you.  There isn’t one more fashion trend that has been bigger lately than wooden platforms.  These are the perfect transition sandal….put these with any denim you please and wear with pleasure.   A Nine West hit.

cutest black clog sandal ever

Um, yes, I did say Cole Haan.  What?  How much?  $59.99.  Yes, that’s what I said.  These boots are just fabulous….they hit a little lower on the calf, you know, that new cool boot shaft height.  They are brown with just the tinge of gray.  I know for a fact they had a handful in a variety of sizes.  I also know for a fact these 7 1/2′s are gone ’cause my best friend bought them.  Sorry.

Cole Haan flat boot with buckles

Had these shoes been  a 1/2 size up, they would be mine.  So, if you are an 8 1/2 they should be yours.  They were comfortable and around $26.99.  To find a shoe this comfy, a great heel height and so unbelievably stylish is like winning the shoe lottery.  Please someone go buy these and wear them with almost every summer to transition outfit you have!  I love ‘em.  By the way, a picture of your own foot and hiding the other is hard to take.

fabulous neutral gladiator sandal

Lucky.  No, I’m not describing getting green lights all the way through Green Hills.  Lucky Brand, that’s who these clogs are by.  My size, a 9, for $34.99; in store they’d be $70-$80 dollars.  They were so comfortable.  I can just see these with a cute army green short skirt, bare legs,  and a long sleeve black tee this fall.  Or of course, your jeans and a turtle neck to a Friday night football game.  They should be mine.

the best clogs....ever

I took more pictures but I think this post is long enough.  Black slingbacks, Donald Pliner platform casual slip ons, and many more.  You’ve just got to go.  They get shipments on Thursday so late Thursday or early Friday are the best shopping times.  They open at 9 a.m. and close at 8 (maybe 9).  Now that I’ve sung their praises, I have just a couple of cautions.  All shoe styles do not come in all sizes.  For example, I think the shoe above I showed on my foot was the only pair, and this is true for most of the shoes they carry.  Secondly, as I mentioned, there will be very worn looking pairs.   I do not buy these, obviously I would advise you to keep your shoes NOT worn looking so I certainly wouldn’t buy a pair!  And thirdly, some pairs say “as is” on the bottom.  This means they may be mismatched by size, a slight color difference, a stud missing, etc.  Just thoroughly look over before you buy.  There is an exchange only policy.

Good luck, have fun, and call if you’d like me to go with you!!  Thanks for reading.

Summer’s Last Hurrah

August 5, 2011

I just hate it.  No sooner has the last 4th of  July firecracker faded from the sky than the countdown to fall begins.  For many of us, back to school is the real downer.  But, whether you have kids going back or not, you can just feel it…..the crickets late in the evening, the fall colors on the clothing racks, or just THAT  knowing that it won’t be long before bare feet, watering flowers, and the sun going down late will be a thing of the past.  That being said…..I do love fall clothes!!!

But, this is about squeezing the last drop of summer out the time we have left.  Whites, sandals, sleeveless tops, flowy summer skirts, shorts….well, you know.   So, the pictures below hopefully will inspire you to go to those outfits that are fully summer and meant for the hot, hot temps of  August.  And I am just showing looks, I don’t have product info on these pics.

Of course, whites are going to be what many think of for summer.  These shorts, heels, and the blousey top are so cool looking.  I also love her hair up in a topknot.  If you need to lengthen the shorts, they will still look fine.  Heels or flats will work also.

white short and beige top

I love this shoe…so cute with a denim skirt and maybe an embellished white tee.  Or, white cropped jeans and a navy top… very nautical.   It’s a slip-on and the white trim and natural heel are so summery.   Unfortunately, come September, this obviously hot weather shoe will need to be put up for spring!

navy with white trim wedge

Ok, I love this look.  I love the long skirt (and she’s not tall), I love the high waist of the skirt (note the skirt is 2 layers), I love the little brown belt, I love the blouse tied at the waist….so fifties!  This beautiful light yellow skirt and white blouse are just the essence of warm summer.  But with our hot temps a sleeveless blouse would work better!

long yellow skirt and white blouse

You know, September can be a tricky month clothes wise.  So this August, send out summer with a bang.  Bring out all the things that scream summer and wear them to pieces.  It won’t be long before boots and sweaters will be what we’re wearing so enjoy this warm weather while it’s here.

Thanks for reading and please sign up to get my blog if you haven’t.  I’d also love for you to share it if you think of anyone else that would enjoy reading!

Plain or Pretty?

July 12, 2011

Plain is good.  Plain is fine.  Plain is easy.  You know, plain tee shirts, plain khaki capris, plain jeans…..you get it?  Plain is PLAIN.  And on some days it’s just all you can do.  But, I’d like for you to stretch your tired, hot mind and picture  you..flirty, fun, …and not plain.

I go into so many client’s closets and see hangars full of solids.  Not a flower, check, or plaid to be seen.  Make it simple, this summer stick to your go to bottoms, whether they be ankle cut jeans or khaki shorts or whatever, but liven up the top half.

Paisley, Indian prints, florals…..they are all in style for summer 2011.  Sometimes just the smallest change can make such a difference in the way you see yourself and the way others see you.  You can go to Walmart or Anthropologie, it doesn’t matter.   The goal is the change.

The tops below all offer totally looks and the silhouettes are not for every body type but I’m just showing some examples of CUTE instead of plain.

This first one, well, I LOVE this top.  It looks a bit long so this would work for someone with some height.  So cute with straight leg jeans and a big rolled up cuff and some cute wedges with a natural heel.  A fat bead necklace to fill in that scoop neckline, or nothing at all.  That elastic is going to create a tiny little waist too!  And sorry, I have no idea how to convert UK to US dollars!

Aztec blue/red tunic top/ debenhams.com/ 12.60 UK

Ok, I die.  This is THE most precious top.  Look at that price.  Look at those colors.  Look at those darling cap sleeves.  Please tell me what this would NOT  go with.  I can see it with army green cargo pants or tucked into a cute denim skirt.  To dress it up, try a navy pencil skirt or even white and belt it on the outside.  Remember Forever 21 carries younger styles and their vendors don’t usually cut their pieces very generous.  That’s a long way to say, you may have to go up a size or sadly, look elsewhere for something similar.   But if this works…..yay for you!

Satin paisley top/ Forever 21/ sale $17.80

Sometimes, pattern on pattern can create the same interest as a print.  This sweet cotton crochet top would certainly spice up your plain khaki capris!   Obviously, a cami is needed underneath; white for mid-summer and black or navy going into the autumn would work perfectly.  This top could definitely be dressed down for daytime with denim shorts and flat sandals or dressed up with sharp white pants for evening.  A fabulous top for a great price.  Add a long chain with a pendant to draw the eye to the pattern.  Sooo cool for these hot temps.

Cotton crochet rust top/ Topshop.com/ $40

Well, there you go.  A few things to think about while trying to move as little as possible in 95 degree weather.  Sometimes our wardrobe is the last thing on the list of day camps, dinners, baseball games, work, and everything else we do.   So I tried to encourage your style appetite with some easy fixes.

Thanks so much for reading and after a set back or two with my surgeries,  I am working in between Dr. appointments.  Call me, shopping is great therapy for me.  Even if I don’t take home the clothes!

And, I would absolutely love for you to share this and sign-up if you haven’t already!

The Maxi Dress Reigns

June 28, 2011

I wasn’t sure at first.  I mean, I loved them when they first came out but didn’t know if I, or how many women would actually wear them.  And wear them where? Were they too “out there” for everyone?

Well, that was about 2 years ago, they have stuck like glue and I love them.  I have 3 and want another.  They are perfect for hiding figure flaws, cell phones, make-up bags, candy into a theater and well, you get it.  Ok, just kidding about the last few.  They go to the movies or dinner or church.  Heels, flats, and boots look great with them.  Really cold winter would be the only time I could think that they wouldn’t work.   But, I don’t know, I might could see an outfit even then!  So, I encourage you to look at the ones below and if you don’t have one, well, maybe this is your time!

Um, not sure what is says about me that the cheapest one is my favorite but, it is!  I think I have a desire to return to the 60′s or 70′s because it’s tye-dyed.  My daughter will tell you, if it’s tye-dyed….. I’m all over it.  I love the one white stripe.  This would be absolutely precious with gold metallic flat sandals, a straw hat, a chunky wooden bracelet, big gold hoops, and, preferably, a beach!  Don’t forget a big tote bag…..

tie-dye maxi/ polyvore.com/ $4o

I love the colors in this one.   And the draping in the front will cover a multitude of tummy issues, excellent selling point.  Add some silver and turquoise jewelry and metallic platform wedges.  If it’s chilly out, a light weight deep pink scarf will provide the perfect warm accent.  Love.

multi colored drape maxi/ Nordstroms.com/ $385

If  both of the above are too busy for you….nothing makes a statement like a solid column of color.  And this is definitely an “it” color right now.  Do whatever you want with this one.  Silver or gold, or, take a deep breath……combine them.  Yes, it can be done.  Sharp brown gladiator sandals or cool rope wedge espadrilles would both look perfect.  Do tons of bangles up one arm or nothing at all.   I really like this one and the neckline is almost universally flattering.   Fabulous!

ruched neckline with straps/ Theory/ $260Gals, this is the way to go this summer for instant chic and on the trend style. I had a friend ask me if "short" people could wear these. Yes, one in a solid color and heels would look fabulous and give the illusion of height. But really, the look is just too cute to worry about rules. Now, haven't I inspired you to give it a try? Come on, you know you want to!

Now, a little housekeeping…..I want you all to know that I’m trying to get these out when I can.  I know Nobody is waiting on pins and needles for my next post but this is part of my business after all and I am trying to stay on top of it.  In between Dr. appointments and days I don’t feel well after certain procedures and trying to see clients, I don’t have as much time as I like.  But soon….soon.

As always, thanks for reading and please email or call if you’d like help.  I am taking clients, yay!! Oh, and sign up, please!

Sail On Over to Lands End

May 23, 2011

This past Christmas I ordered the canvas, monogrammed Lands End totes for my mom.  I didn’t look at anything else on their website since it had become so staid in its clothing choices.   Since then I’ve been getting their catalogs.  I hadn’t really had a chance to look through them but the picture on the front of the last one caught my eye and made me explore further!  It was a cute pair of madras shorts with an oxford long sleeve blouse, on a cutie pie model of course.  But the pairing of the  short and blouse convinced me that Lands End had stepped up its game and was really starting to appeal to a younger crowd.   A new division called Canvas has some really cute pieces.  So, for your viewing pleasure……

I HATE that I couldn’t get this picture bigger, I won’t take the time to explain why, but go to the site and look at this outfit.  I love everything about it, the red scarf, the short fitting loose, tank 1/2 tucked, canvas boat shoe….ahh, just summer perfection!

boyfriend chino short/ $39.50

This tee is simple, fairly cheap, and embodies everything nautical.  Cuuuute!

boatneck stripe tee/ $24.50

Let me just say again, hate that I couldn’t get these pics bigger!  Okay, take away the sweater and blouse and picture a simple white tee or red tank; or, if in the Hamptons and you’ve got some chilly weather throw the blouse or sweater back on over the tee and go for a walk on the beach!  Love.

madras mine/ $69.50

The embodiment of summer…..

Cotton empire waist sundress/ $79.50?

Memorial Day is coming up and how can you get more patriotic than red and white?  Add blue I guess, but this short comes pretty close and  seersucker is the ultimate summer fabric.  I also love the little blouse they paired with them.

Seersucker short/ $39.50

This fabulous gold sandal will go with your dresses, skirts, shorts, and whatever else you’d like to put them with.  Great price on a very chic pair of sandals!

Phoebe toe ring sandal/ $49.50

Come sail away with me……a fantastic bag for land or sea.

anchor tote/ $49.50

There’s so much more I could have put in this post.  You just need to click this link landsend.com and look at it all yourself.  You could very possibly fill in some holes in your wardrobe from this brand.   Many pieces have been featured in fashion magazines this spring and some are going quickly.  Hurry!

Lands End has long been known for its meticulous construction and superb fabric choices.  It has a generous return policy and right now is offering $20 off of a $75 purchase.  The only drawback is they do still offer the high-waisted, pleated pants that they kinda became known for.  That style pant was a mistake then and still is!  But,  they do still offer longer skirts and shorts that are more comfortable for some but can still be considered stylish.  The pinstripe Bermuda short they make is one great example.  So, take your time and browse their website,  I’m sure you’ll find something you need!

Now for some housekeeping issues; if you have called or contacted me about an appointment I have had to push those back to mid June.  I am having surgery and will start to see clients again by then.  I also got a new phone (same number) and lost all saved messages, some with new client’s phone numbers!  So frustrating……..please email or call me again.  If you are a returning client waiting to hear from me, I haven’t forgotten you.  Again, I will be getting back to work by mid June.  Thank-you all for your patience and concern while I have been on this journey called breast cancer…..I sincerely appreciate it.

White On

May 10, 2011

If I were fanatical, I would write a post about how to keep the horrid cicadas off of you.  You know, bee keeper hat, or DIY floppy hat with spring colored tulle over it and tied about the waist.  But, I’m not fanatical about them, I just hate them more than you can imagine.  I haven’t seen one in my neck of the woods yet but soon, I’m sure.

So, you ask, what will I write about?  Well, the warm temps are here and that means I’m lovin’ wearing anything white and this will definitely last well through the summer!  I saw a girl in church on Sunday wearing fabulous fitting white pants, no  undies showing through, and the cutest pink stripe sleeveless top with seaming that made it fit like a glove.  Heels finished the outfit and she looked great, even with a crying baby on her shoulder!

I’m sure you all have heard of the LBD but have you heard of the LWD?  The little white dress.  Although this look started a couple of warm seasons ago, it’s still going strong.  You choose the style just make sure it’s pure white.  Cotton, linen, eyelet, silk, halter, sheath, sundress; what ever the style and fabric, pristine white is a must.  The dress below is just about perfect.  I love the length, the lace overlay and the lining is a scoop neck in the front and back which seems to say…. dress up, dress down.

Soooo cute with metallic flats or heels as shown.  If you can’t enlarge it here, definitely go to the site and see it!

Now then, after you wear your fabulous LWD to a play or dinner or where ever, then,  you can get casual in this precious white tank.  Sometimes, all you need is the perfect top to make the outfit.  This flirty ruffled top would be great with a pair of skinny jeans (roll up and cuff for a springy feel)  and a pair of wedge platforms.  I can also see it with summery khaki linen pants, a wide brown belt, and brown flat sandals…..so  reminiscent of  scenes from Out of Africa.  Whether it’s this one or one you choose, a white tank with a detail or two is a necessity for summertime.

This one has cute little rows of see through stitching alternating with the ruffles.

With the temperatures climbing up close to 85 degrees, shorts are a must have.  They don’t have to be short shorts, most women look best when they are mid-thigh to an inch or two above the knee.  You’ll hear them called Bermuda, walking shorts, or street shorts.  These are going to look good with heels or flats.  And what a chic outfit you’ll have with a pair, again, solid white!  They’re going to work with any color top you’ve got but if you really want to make a statement, try wearing white on top also.  Top to bottom in all white is a fabulous look and so cool in the summer heat.

Try a crisp white blouse with these for the ultimate hot weather outfit.  I love the cut on these too.

Lots of  women shy away from the color white.   It isn’t necessarily the color that is unflattering, often it is the cut or fit of the garment.  Get in the dressing room with an objective eye (mine is available) and try on.  Whether it is a pair of jeans, a dress, or a top, I’m certain there is a cool, cottony, white piece waiting just for you.
